Winning our road game at Godby
H.S. The Marching Wildcats had a great time on our first "road" trip... All Band parents should be proud of their band kids.. Every where we went compliments were said how well behaved the band kids were! That's good to hear as we not only represent our school, but our town.
We made a pitt stop at the Golden Coral.. where they had the entire room set aside for our band.. the kids enjoyed a good meal. We then head to FSU where we watch their band practice. Their band ran thru their numbers a few times and then directed their last number towards the Booker T. Washington Marching Wildcats who gave them a big applause. We stopped by FAMU and saw big Mike and then headed to the game at Gene Stadium to face the 10-0 Godby H.S. in Tallahassee.
The kids dressed quickly on the bus and proceeded to march into the stadium. The band played hard all night and cheered the Wildcats football team. The football team played their hearts out. It was a very exciting and draining game as it all came down to the last field goal attempt. The score was 28-30. We needed this field goal to win. Then the Cougars called a timeout. We reset our offense and another time out was called.
You could see the emotions in the stands of the well attended away game. Some fans had to turn away as the emotional level had risen to a high level. Finally ready to kick. Another timeout was called. Michael Taylor finally made the kick and theplayingcats.com has the video of "the kick". Tears and cheers were the theme of the day. Football team members, band members, cheerleaders, fans and parents held hands in this very emotional moment.
