2008 Battle of the bands (my 2¢)! Story by J.Starke!

If you missed the "Battle of the Band", you missed our Marching Wildcat's they were hot "smokin'."  If you don't know why then you will have to ask somebody who was there (-:... The Mobile High Schools were back this year and it made for a much more enjoyable show, but all that really mattered was the blue sea of Wildcats from the, "Western Gate of the Florida State"!  I know we made Dr. Roberts (who was in attendance) proud!

Ladds Peebles Stadium was at it's normal crowded capacity as the Wildcats took to the field under the stadium lights.   Drum Major senior Raymond Spencer strutted his stuff and opened the number with a running and jumping split! The show was fantastic from the beginning salute to our Olympics athletes.   One fan started yelling as the opening number started.  The band started off hot and ended up smokin'.   

Our band kids were well hydrated on this sunny hot day.   And they seemed to be energetic right to the end of the show.   The medics had to make frequent trips to assist other band members who became overheated during the show, but our Wildcat's seemed immuned to the extreme temperatures.  The Chaperones were busy giving the kids their snacks, water and lunch after their performance.  

We wish Chelsea well as she didn't travel with us as she was under the weather.  All parents and band students need to personally thank Chelsea for all she had done to help make this Battle of the Band successful.  Also send a thank you to all the parent volunteers, truck drivers, loaders and unloaders and all attending parents who worked hard to ensure that our kids had a safe and enjoyable event.  

It's been heard before, but events like this cannot happen without the involvement of the parents/guardians.  

Our color guard looked very sharp and thanks goes to JaVera for pulling them together.  

And finally give props to Mr. Young for again pulling off a great show and his wife for lending him to the band for so many hours each week.  

Lil Boosie closed out the show and we shall see you next year!
