FAMU 2008
Our
trip to
FAMU
It was a "chilly dark" outside as a blue sea of kids and parents wearing
"I'm with the band" shirts poured into the band room at 4:30AM, Saturday,
November 15th, 2008. It was way too early to be getting up.
Two Gulf Tours buses lined up near the band room and about 2 hours later we made a pitstop at McDonalds for some much needed breakfast for the kids. Bus one had a selection of movies. The first was Happy Feet. Well you can call it happy DVD as it jumped all over the place and we never got to see the ending)-:. We then enjoyed a showing of "Iron Man!"
3 hours into our journey we arrived in Tallahassee.
We stole a few photos from ESPN.COM
gameday page
FAMU's new President, James Ammons addressed the band kids in attendance, speaking of the global reach of FAMU and their visions for the future. Shortly after some scholarships were given out to some deserving kids.
We proceed to the stadium to watch the "Marching 100", all 420 of them to
march into the
stadium. The last time we visited FAMU it rained and this time was no different. It was a cold rain, but it didn't last long and then the sun came out just in time for the half-time show.
Big Mike after the game!
On the way home the kids picked up some souvenir, caps and tee-shirts and we headed to Governor's mall for some food and shopping and headed back to Pcola! -tpc
