theplayingcats.com reporting on the 2005 Veterans
Day Parade
Veterans Day
photos
It was a beautiful day as the combined band warmed up near the Main and Spring
Street corner. The Motorcycles were in full force. We believe
some came as far as Mississippi. The combined bands marched along the Bayfront
Parkway with the sparkling water on the right as they headed towards the
Veterans Memorial. The drumline kept the beat and every few minutes
the combined band played a patriotic song; music that they only rehearsed
as one unit moments before.
If you heard them play you would have never know that the practice for the combine bands was minutes and not the normal hours bands usually spend practicing together. .
theplayingcats.com caught up with 35
year Army Veteran Laurence Potts. He had a roadside seat and
was enjoying the parade. We spoke with him briefly and he agreed to
let us shoot his photo for our website. We must remember our Vets and
honor them as we are able to march in parades and enjoy our freedom because
of veterans like Mr. Potts who gave up a lot and made great sacrifices so
we can remain free.. Although many other events were happening that day and
the parade was not the largest, we'd like to thank all the Band members who
marched and put a smile on some of the spectator's faces.. see you
next year!!
